I need some help, can someone tell me what they were feeling there firat few days out. I have not have no pain at all but I have been so nauseated.  I picked up prescription for that today but I still feel the same. I haveven only had a few sips of water in two days. Did anyone have this problem.

If you've only had a few sips of water, the nausea is probably a result of dehydration.  Sip all day, get your fluids in - at least 40 ounces, but really 64.

I have to second what Gwen said. I also had this same problem and ended up in the ER a few nights later getting IV fluids. I know how hard it is to get that fluid in but you have to try, try, try. What worked best for me was sf jello. I'm not sure if it is allowed for you right now. But that and sf popsicles really help with fluid. Another tip given to me was to try your water at different temps.

I hope you start feeling better soon!!

I'm another person who didn't get all of their fluids in and ended up in the hospital (twice) getting IV fluids. you do NOT want this to happen. Sip, sip, sip. Unless the water is actually coming back up then you have to sip through the nausea. I know it is the last thing that you want to do but it is what you body needs.

Not getting my fluids in post op is the ONLY regret I have about the entire process.

Dehydration is far and away the number one reason for rehospitalization. There really is no reason for not drinking enough. If you need an IV, it will go in a drop at a time. Better it goes in a drop at a time through your mouth, than a needle.

If you get your fluid in, you'll feel much better. If you don't, you'll feel much worse.

I also had the same problem after my surgery.  It turned out to be my pain medication.  Thank God my doctor had a hunch and changed it.

Hey! I remember you from the Lap-Band forums a long time ago. I got my band removed and changed to sleeve on 3/16. My first 2 days I was in the hospital and the pain/nausea meds worked fine for me. I'm sorry to hear you are having so much trouble. Are you taking anything else that could possibly be making you nauseous?

But everyone is right, you need to sip as much as you can to avoid dehydration.

I found that at about 7 days, it got a LOT easier to drink. I'm 11 days out and can drink water at a normal pace already.

Hope it gets easier for you soon.

Dehydration will make you nauseous.  Try all sorts of broth.  You might find the warmth and flavor comforting and therefore easier to get down.  And the salt content will help if you are dehydrated.
