GOAL REACHED TODAY!!!! Weighed in this morning at 134.5!  HW-235, SW-230, Goal Weight-135 BMI-23.9 from 42.1  Time since surgery:  1year, 12 days.  Thought I'd never make it, but I did and I'm delighted!  So tell me, why did MyFitnessPal suddenly change my daily calorie goal to 1610???  I had it set for 1000.  There is no way I can eat an additional 610 calories a day and maintain that weight!  My NUT said in order to maintain a weight of 135, I only needed about 1300 calories a day.  Strange.... Not sure what my diet of maintenance will look like, but I'm not out to change a whole lot.  Do any of you track to maintain your weight?  How has your diet changed since reaching maintenance...for those of you who have?

First, congratulations on reaching your goal!  That's wonderful.  You can change for food/calorie goals in MFP by going to My Home, Goals and select Custom and you can adjust the calories, sodium, etc settings pretty much the way you want.

Thank you for the MFP hint.  I couldn't figure out how to change it before you posted.  I have changed my calorie count to 1300 a day and hope that will work out better there.  BTW, do you know how I can get my whole wicket to post in my signature?  It is cutting off half of it for some reason.  Thanks again!

Congrats!

I would not change your diet drastically for maintenance.  I would keep doing what you are doing and introduce a bit more fruits, veggies, whole grains slowly.  I would add 50 / 100 calories to your diet for the first week or so and see how that goes.  Then continue to slowly add more in until you stabilize.

Maintenance is a tricky thing!   I've been doing it for about 9 months and I'm still not sure what my numbers are.  I'm still slowly dropping weight, but it is much much better than putting it back on.   Over the holidays I was not super careful and the lbs did start to creep on.  Track everything!

Job well done! Congratulations! It takes work and perseverance to lose 100 pounds! Be proud!

Gradually increase your calories over time - not daily, but weekly (some people say even monthly). During the time that I was maintaining I upped my cals by about 700-1000 per week for the first month or so then a bit more after that. I ended up maintaining on about 1800 calories per day. (It wasn't until some highly charged emotional issues came into play that I back slid into old habits. I actually maintained my weight nicely for a little more than a year.)

Congratulations, Judy!!  Woohooo

Don't worry about MFP - you can go into settings and totally manipulate the calories that you want to set it out.  It's not a supreme being that is "telling" you to eat a certain amount.

Don't even try to change much in your diet right now.  Add a little fruit and some more fat, maybe a bit more protein and see where it goes.  And YES, I absolutely still track my food every day in MFP.  It's a very important tool in my toolbelt to stay on track.

A typical day in maintenance for me looks like this:

B - 1 egg, 1 slice Ezekial toast w/1 pat butter

S - 5 grapes, 1 oz. jerky

L - 3 oz. protein, some veggie

S - luna protein bar

D - 3 oz. protein, some veggies

S - Wasa cracker w/peanut butter or fruit

Tracy, thank you for your post.  What is Ezekial toast?  I've never heard of that before.  Congratulations to you for reaching goal so quickly!  WOW!  How many calories a day did you set MFP for in order to maintain your weight?  I have gone in to override it for 1300 calories a day, although that was only an estimate on my part.  Your feedback has been very helpful.
