Swollen Stomach!

I had surgery on 3/13/15.  Everything is going very well. Eating between 400-600 cals per day.  Protein and water goals for the first 2 weeks is 40/40 and I have exceeded those each day.  Walking about 6000 steps a day.  One question...when will my newly acquired (since surgery) stomach pooch go away?  My clothes that were very comfortable pre-surgery are still tight around my waist!  It is uncomfortable and I want it to go away!

You will be swollen for awhile.  It took several weeks for my swelling to go down and it took even longer than that before I could stand anything remotely snug around my waist.

I wonder if ALL of it is swelling.  I know I gained 10 pounds (from the IV fluids etc) from the morning of my surgery until 3 days later.  It was weird because the scale DROPPED a lot at one time and then stuck there for a while and then another BIG drop.  Its only been 5 days since your surgery.  If you FEEL GOOD other than tight clothes then your doing awesome.  ALSO - 6000 steps a day is GREAT!

You could alway**** Goodwill and buy some inexpensive pants to get you over this brief clothes fit issue!   Don't buy much, they won't fit soon!! :)      You will do great!

LOL!  I am right there with you,  9 days post op.  I have actually lost about 10 lbs, but my pants that I was wearing before surgery feel super tight on my waist and stomach.  I am thinking it must still be swelling from the surgery.  It is very uncomfortable.  I change into comfies the second I get home from work.

My upper belly was swollen for a good 2-3 weeks. The top popped over like a muffin top lol. It's gone now :) xoxo

Thank you for your responses!  It is good to know I am not alone in this.  I do have this bump mid-abdomen that was not there before and I was concerned that it was not normal.  Looks like I am not the only one that had this.  Today I am wearing my jeans with a rubberband around the waste like I did when I was preggo.  Cannot wear those same stretchy pants every day...I really need to wash them sometime!
