I feel hungry

I take prilosec daily, and I've heard I shouldn't even feel hungry. But I do, my stomach growls and feels very empty sometimes. I've tried upping my fluids thinking maybe it's just thirst, but still feel hungry. Any advice? Oh btw I'm 13 days post op.

Your body just went through some major trauma.  At that point I was ignoring my body and just trying to get my water and protein in.  I think in the beginning it needs to be mind over matter until your body figures out what happened.

hunger IMHO is normal.  Follow your plan.  Once you get to solids it should get better.

If you're still on liquids or purees it's entirely possible to feel a bit of hunger.  It could also be that your Prilosec isn't even touching your acid issues.  Your stomach will continue to make the same amount of acid that it did for a much, much larger stomach.  That acid exactly mimics hunger and makes all kinds of noises.

Prilosec didn't work for me and neither did Zantac.  I'm not saying it's acid, but it you have the same issues once you move to more solid food please talk to your doctor about another type of PPI.

you probably need to adjust the dose of you ppi or h2blocker to limit acid

sleeves making funny noises at first is very common

call you surgeon to see what he says about adjusting your ppi or h2 blocker

I had my VSG on 3/2/15(twinsies!), & i often feel hungry too. I try to say "mind over matter", but it seems more difficult than it should be....

Are you taking a PPI such as prilosec or nexium?  Hunger at this point is most often acid, which mimics hunger.
