I'm in the insurance process to get sleeve weight loss surgery. Looking for people who had success..got to goal or near goal weight with having PCOS &/or low thyroid. I have both. I can't lose significant amount of weight on my own..don't want to go through this & still not lose. I hate about 180lbs to lose. I'm 5'3 340lbs

I have PCOS and my thyroid function was off, though I wasn't on medication. The sleeve worked well for me, and I actually found that after a year, my thyroid function improved without the use of medication! Now, is this the same for everyone, no, but just an observation I had with my own health.

I have PCOS too and I HATE IT.  I always feel like everyone's metabolism runs at the speed of a jaguar and mine runs at the speed of a...snail.  With the food restrictions you can't not lose weight, because you simply can't consume the same number of calories, unless you try to sabotage it.  You should lose easily in the beginning giving the change.  You may just find that you have to work harder to lose the last 10-15 points and/or maintain when you do get where you want.

Vigilance and a good workout regime will help with both.

I am still early out, 2 weeks post op, but I also have hypothyroidism and PCOS. I am so far having great success. Since surgery 2 weeks ago I am down 14 pounds. Once you start to lose weight it will shift your hormones. Losing weight should greatly improve the PCOS from what I have heard and from my past experiences.

I have PCOS and hypothyroidism (medicine) as well.  I am 5 months out from surgery, 68lbs less and feeling great.  I have not been back to my endocrinologist yet after having surgery, but I am going to soon.  My endocrinologist had told me that the best medicine for my conditions would be to lose weight and he encouraged me to do the Sleeve when I told him about it.

You might also want to look at the DS surgery (duodenal switch) which has the sleeved stomach but a bypass similar to the bypass but yet different. It seems to work really well for hormone imbalances. I am only reporting what I have read I don't have any weight loss surgery any more.
