vitamins for life

Actually, my PCP says ALL people need to take a multi-vitamin daily, because nobody maintains a healthy balanced diet.  With a VSG, you won't have the capacity to eat all of the nutrients you need, so yeah, a vitamin fills the void.

If you get a gastric bypass or duodenal switch, the amount of vitamins is much more complex and variable from what each person needs.

I take my vitamins religiously. It isn't so much a question of malabsorption but the quantity of food we can eat. I take these and they've been really great for me. My surgeon recommended them but they have a no iron formula as well which may be better for you. I need the iron being a woman.

My surgeon was explicitly clear on lifelong vitamin supplementation, if I couldn't agree to be compliant on vitamins he wouldn't have allowed my packet to be submitted for insurance approval. I take a multivitamin, B-12 sublingual, calcium citrate, and D3 supplement, and depending on my next round of labs may add iron and tweak my supplements depending on what my levels are. It's your life and your health at stake, deficiencies can be debilitating and life-threatening.
