Beef Jerky

I definitely could not tolerate jerky until I was farther out.  I have a hard time digesting the jerky.  i also have to watch the sodium content in the jerky as I'm usually up a little the next day after eating jerky.

We were on a trip and we stopped and got some delicious jerky - ending up snacking on it all afternoon - was absolutely miserable the next day  - ate way too much.  So don't do as I did!  Learned my lesson!

I probably started etaing it at 4-5 months post-op.  Trader Joe's has awesome beef jerky that is actually very tender and not stringy.  Other types (like the turkey jerky) I eat now are kind of stringy.  But you just chew it better.

I only eat 1 oz. at a time, usually for a snack.

It obviously depends on the person.  I haven't ever had any food that I can't tolerate.  I started eating jerky when I was cleared for solid foods at 4 weeks.  I started with turkey jerky, but quickly changed to beef jerky because I like it better.  I buy Cowboy Jerky.  It is from a company from my home town in Wyoming, is REALLY tender, has excellent flavor and lots of choices.  http://www.buycowboyjerky.com/
