Hi Joy!  I was 56 when I had surgery, and just turned 60.  The whole process went smoothly for me, and I've had no complications.  I initially lost a little over 120 lbs, but over the past few months got complacent and ended up gaining some weight back.  I've been back on track for awhile now and am losing that weight regained.  Just to illustrate how life changing this surgery can be, 3 weeks after I had the sleeve done, I started an adult dance class, and will be in my 4th recital this June.  I feel younger now than I did in my 40's.  Great luck to you!

Hi Joy62,

i had the sleeve done Feb 5, 2015. I am 53 and I am doing very well! First 2 wks after surgery were the hardest but I just had to tell myself "this is only temporary"! I am now on week 4 and starting soft foods! Would I do it again? In a heart beat. I am feeling great and am getting more energy. I walk one hour twice a day. I have to tell you, follow up is important and go to support group (if it is offered by your weight loss center)! People who have experienced this are of great help. Also, contact your nutritionist with any questions. They are fabulous!

Fantastic...I was 51 years old when I had my surgery in 2013.  I had a speedy recovery and no complications.  My husband had the same surgery a year ago when he was 52-years old.  Same result:  speedy recovery and no complications.  He had an even easier time than I did, actually.

I had my surgery at 57 and will be 60 at the end of the month.  No complications at all.  I took a month off of work, just because I could.  I live alone and did not need any help.  I have more energy and returned to doing yoga which I love.   I am able to get on the floor and play with the grandkids and went hiking up to a beautiful waterfall this past summer.  There is no way I would have even thought of this before my surgery.  Wishing you all the best on your surgery.
