I have a silver plan, I called and asked them today what they require for approval and I was told nothing just a referral from my pcp. Does anyone else have them and is this true. Should I ask in a different  way?

Is silver a regular plan or one of the medicare plans?

i ask as I was under the impression uhc as a rule pays for no bariatric. Of course, all of us that have looked could just have crappy uhc insurance.

log on to myuhc.com and check you plan exclusions to be sure.

It is through Healthcare/Obama care. There are different levels ad in what your deductible  is. I called gave them my # and that is what  they  told me. I will go on and doug check.

Thank you

you are mistaken. Many UHC plans cover bariatric surgery. It depends on what coverage the employer buys for the employees. If they don't buy the coverage that includes bariatrics, then bariatrics will not be covered for their employees.

I have United Healthcare as well.  It was 2 months from my "I want weight loss surgery" decision to my actual surgery date.  Very rare!

I got my DS through a standard employer UHC program, so I know they cover it with many policies, and I know that there are some states that cover wls, but not as many as hoped.  I was required to jump through a few hoops, though.  Just to be sure, you can read your own policy and even call one more time to see if the second person tells you the same thing.

I have UHC through my employer & they called it a "silver" plan. When I called, they told me requirements such as BMI ect. I also had to enroll in their bariatric program (employee required.) I would call again, and see if you get a different response. I called 2 or 3 x haha, just to make sure I heard everything correctly. I am sure each state, and each individual plan is differen't however.

My UHC is a Florida based plan, and as I said it's a sucky plan. As, apparently we my friends plans from different companies.
