Hospitals are hard
My dad's brain surgery was Monday and things have gotten a bit better every day since then for him. But sheesh, being cooped up in the hospital is challenging. There are times I want to eat (and do) just to break up the monotony. Just for something to do. I've mostly made healthy choices and I'm actually pretty proud of myself for taking care of me while taking care of my parents but, sheesh. I had an almond croissant yesterday just because I needed to get out of the room and do something that felt indulgent and distracting for a little bit.
In slightly better selfcare news, I have managed to exercise every day so far. So yay for that.

It is so hard to manage the diet when dealing with stresses like this. I think you are doing great, and I'd encourage you to be gentle with yourself. Do the best you can for now, knowing you'll get back on plan when the stress subsides.
I'll hold you and your Dad in my prayers.

Gwen, so glad to hear the surgery is over and your dad is recovering well. I know how hospital duty is very tense. I found it to be very tiring, even though all we do it sit. Pack some good snacks, food and bring some magazines and a good book. We do what we have to do to help our parents. They were always there for us. Wishing your dad a very good recovery. Christine
Gwen,
I am so glad to hear that your dad is doing better each day. I have been thinking about you and your family. I'm glad that you are taking care of yourself and don't beat up yourself when you do go slightly off plan. As long as you get back on track when things calm down a bit I think that you will be just fine. Right now it is important to take care of yourself and your family.
And yes, I agree that hospitals do suck.
