Sushi: Yay or Nay?

I have recently discovered that sushi (that I always hated pre-op) is now delicious to me. It goes down well and doesn't hurt or feel uncomfortable like a lot of "meat" does. Is this a good source of protein?

I would say beware of the rice, but otherwise, it's still meat and veggies, albeit "bait" in some social circles.

Sushi is my #1 favorite food. When I eat it now though I don't eat any of the rice and just pick the fish/seafood off the top. Still delicious and much cheaper with a smaller stomach!

I stick to sashimi to avoid the rice. I get all the great flavors of sushi with no carbs.

I eat a roll, with the rice, about once a month. I love it. One roll is two meals for me now.

I love sushi! I eat a lot of fish in general, and it was one of my go-to foods for the first few months after surgery. It's lean protein, can't go wrong with that!

It's best to avoid rice, so you can stick with sashimi. At the place I go to, the chef will make nigiri with veggies (cucumber sticks and whatnot) instead of the rice if I ask nicely!

Frisco, that looks AMAZING.  You're a genius! Do you just buy sushi-grade fish at that market and do this at home?

Ahhh..... genius.... no, an ex fat guy that came up with a good idea.... more like it !

Yes, sushi grade and do at home.

It helps if you have an Asian market near you and specifically Japanese would be easiest.

Than use a Julianne peeler on carrots, English cucumber and daikon.

In place of wasabi I used Coleman's mustard.... think hot Chinese type mustard mixed with soy sauce.
