soft foods, no protein supplement

so I just transitioned into the soft food stage. It looks like my doc is wanting 3-5 meals with 20 grams of protein per meal. He prefers no protein supplement. I am wondering how I could possibly get 20 grams of protein per meal without a protein supplement at 1/4 - 3/4 of a cup per meal. I feel at times I might over eat just to get to protein goal. I never get that full feeling or sickness but I'm just worried.

I actually had 1 egg and 1.5 oz of smoked salmon for breakfast. I'm not sure if I could handle another egg. Thanks for the suggestion though :)

That was my go too breakfast in the beginning also.  Sardines and oysters were great sourses too.

Protein powder and Isopure Zero Carb protein drinks were the the ONLY way I was able to get in enough the first few months.  I think your doctor (who is not a dietician or nutritionist) is completely off the mark on this one.  There's no way I could have gotten 1/2 - 3/4 cup of food in at one time for the first 5-6 months.

You probably should talk to your NUT, you definitely need protein supplements to reach your daily goal. You still can't eat that much at the beginning of your soft food stage. Even now that I'm 13 weeks, I still can't eat no more than 2-3 ounces per meal. So I still require 2 protein shakes a day as my snacks. Isopure is a good source of protein water.

Cottage cheese, greek yogurt if you can tolerate. If you can drink Skim Plus milk or Soy milk, this could help your protein totals and fluids. But I agree with the other posters - protein supplements are necessary at this point! My surgeon's NUT recommends a few and makes them available for sale in the office. These are brands vetted out and researched by the registered dieticians and meant for bariatric patients. I wonder what your doctor's reason is for not allowing.
