My clinic gives the okay for alcohol 2 months post op. Things are healed... and it is not going to hurt the VSG BUT at 6 months post op I figured out that if I did not get help to quit, all the weight I had lost would come right back and more Really, what's the point of having 80% of my stomach removed only to end up in the exact same place 1 or 2 or 3 years later. So I got the help I needed (with intense out patient therapy) and am still on track to get to my personal goal. Cross-addiction is a very real thing. Just sayin' (take it for what it's worth from someone who's been there) Have a care.

I also really hope that is not the case! I like to drink and can't imagine never doing so again. A nice glass of sangria on a summer day is just magic. I'm fully aware of transfer addiction and empty calories, but you can't expect everyone to have these issues. I hate chocolate, I'm not going to be splurging on cake or sweets, but imagining not having wine again? Terrible!

To each their own.
