I originally wanted the RNY, but my surgeon suggested the Sleeve. I'm SO happy I made the change. I LOVE the sleeve and yes I would definitely do it again. Wished I had done this sooner. I'm only 12 weeks post op and have lost 47 lbs. Everyone is different on weight loss, depending on how much you need to lose. But my new stomach will not all me to over eat. I can only eat 2-3 ounces per meal. I had no complications, pain or gas issues. I have to admit, the first couple of weeks were rough, only because we have to be on fluids. But its a very important stage to allow our new stomachs to heal. Don't miss out on this amazing surgery! You won't regret it.

You can see my weight loss stats below in my ticker.  I had no complications other than an allergic reaction to the first two PPIs my doctor put me on but I don't consider that an actual "complication" from the surgery.

I would absolutely do it again in a heartbeat.  I wanted this surgery because I didn't want my intestines re-routed and didn't want to deal with malabsorption that would require me to take a LOT more vitamins.

My surgeon recommended the sleeve for me. Since he's the head of his department I took his word for it. I got to my goal weight at about 5 months post op. I am about 11 months out next month and haven't gained any weight.  I have been in maintenance since  August/September and upped my calories and am still maintaining my weight. I love my sleeve and wouldn't want any other wls.

My surgeon gave me the option of RNY, DS, or the Sleeve, but highly recommended the Sleeve. I came to this board (2 1/2 years ago) and asked the same question you did. Someone linked me to a thread that had the Pros and Cons of each. I decided on the Sleeve because I didn't want my intestines re-routed, it's as close to being "normal" as you eat and digest like anyone else, and I especially liked the reduction in the hunger hormone from the Sleeve.
I was all set to go and then my Insurance denied me, even with appeals.  2 1/2 years later, after continuing to try to lose weight, and ending up weighing even more, and having my labwork come back with several high numbers that could be alleviated by losing a significant amount of weight, I decided to self-pay and get the Sleeve. Best decision I every made. Well worth the price! I am ONE MONTH post-op today I have lost 38.8 pounds as of today, 19.8 of that Pre-Op. I also have several NSV's including inches lost, clothing sizes I have gone down, and best of all I can do walking exercise without the pain I had before I lost this weight.

I wrote a blog post on the topic way back before my surgery.

I lost 140lb and feel awesome. I'm off my CPAP and blood pressure meds, I rode a 40-mile bike race before Thanksgiving, and I'm doing my first 5k on Saturday!
