hi everyone.. How long did you all take off work after surgery to recover? I have no idea how long I should take. I asked my surgeon how long people typically take after VSG and his response was "all depends on the patient." So that was no help lol. His nurse told me anywhere from 2 all the way to six weeks is normal. What did you all do?

I took 2 weeks off and was fine. My hubby took 1 week off then worked from home for 1 week and then went back.

 Hope this helps :)

I had my sleeve on Thursday and was back to work (desk job) the following Wednesday.  No problems at all.

I had my surgery on a Tuesday and was back to work the following Monday.  I sit at a desk.  I was tired but the following Monday I was pretty much back to normal.

I was back to working in the office after 2 weeks.  I did get the ok from the surgeon to work from home, as I was up to it, for a couple of hours a day the second week.  You won't be able to return to work without a note from the surgeon, who you will likely see at the 2 week mark.  I'd ask for the 2 weeks up front, letting them know that it's possible it could be sooner, by may also be a little longer.  It's hard to predict how you'll feel after surgery.

I took off for a week and two days.  My surgeon recommended at least a week.  I was fine.

I had surgery on a Friday, went home Sunday, was driving myself around town on Tuesday and went back to work the following Monday.  I have a desk job and it didn't require a lot of activity so I was fine.

Some people do bounce back faster than others.  If your job requires lifting any more than 8 lbs or critical thinking, the longer-the better.  It took a good 5-6 weeks before I could shake the anesthesia fog out of my head.

Why do you say critical thinking? I do work in an office at a desk but I am head of the financial analyst department. So I do need to be able to think clearly especially with monetary figures. No lifting at all but also constant interruptions by staff. Could this be a problem for a few weeks?
