Stool softener question
They make a generic version of Miralax. My grandmother was prescribed it every day because it is that gentle.
Colace is a stool softener.
Miralax is a gentle laxative.
I'd start with a softener before going to a laxative.

What stool softener do you recommend? Is there one that doesn't keep you in the bathroom all day, but just makes it easier to go when you naturally need to go?
stool softeners are all the same. They don't keep you in the bathroom all the time.they are not habit forming. Any generic brand works just like the most expensive brand name product.
laxatives are a different matter. Some of them can be habit forming. Miralax is not habit forming. Smooth move tea, senna ex lax etc are all. Habit forming.
