Pre-Op Weight Loss Goal - Question
I have started my pre-op work with my surgeon's office on Tuesday. I am still waiting on a surgery date (most likely will be first week in April) so I don't have to start the 4 weeks of liquids just yet. However, they did tell me that between now and my surgery date, they are asking me to lose 15 lbs. Normally I'd think that is a drop in the bucket, but given that I've been on a 1200 calorie diet with their dietitian since October, I'm worried that I won't be able to get that amount of weight off in the appx 7 weeks I have. I've already lost over 40 lbs in the supervised weight loss phase. I know moving to liquids should help, but considering the calorie count is still around 1000/day, that's just a drop in 200 calories per day. Anyone have advice or experience in being able to meet a goal like this?
I don't want my procedure to be delayed if I don't hit that goal. They said the goal is to show your commitment to the lifestyle and program, but haven't I done that already by losing over 40 lbs supervised by them already? It just feels like a pressure I simply don't need right now!

My surgeon's office always sets WL goals for everybody too...but they have yet to cancel a surgery because somebody didn't lose "enough". However, they WILL cancel surgery if a patient actually gains weight. Basically, they just want to see some effort and willingness to make dietary changes.
I absolutely believe that whether or not you lost the entire 15 lbs. that they WILL take into account the hard work you've done to lose 40 lbs. already.
