Thanks for everyones thoughts.

I am getting the procedure covered by Alberta's Health Care.  It is not through an insurance company.

I go today for tests so I guess I will find out soon enough.

Have a terrific Tuesday everybody!!

I think it depends.  For me, all of my stuff was submitted and I was evaluated on a BMI of 37.  I lost a 1.5 points on the liver shrink that next month but the office told me if I went below it was not a problem since insurance had already done their thing and the office was not resubmitting. I weighed with my boots on at my pre-op appointment anyway!  If you're worried, check with your team. YMMV.

Hello Bikrck,

I've lost 10lbs the first week on the liquid diet and I still have one week left.

What do you mean when you say "lost 1.5 points"... does that mean pounds?

I love the fact that I'm already losing but would suck to get turned away at the doors.

I have 6 days till surgery.  I feel like going out today and eating 3000 calories just to slow the weight loss.  If I knew of a power liver shrink then I would do it just to ensure the surgery happens.

I know, I know,,, I won't do it but the thought crossed my mind ;)

Do you know when your surgery is?

BMI points.  I was right on the line the day of surgery. Didn't matter to my surgical team as my paperwork was "done" but you should check with yours. You never know. My surgery was October 14 of 2013 so I'm about a year and 1/2 post op.  Been maintaining for about 9 months now. Life. Is. Good as a healthy person! Best of luck!
