I did it again...
Running a 5K that is :-) We went to Las Vegas this weekend to cheer my brother on as he completed his 50th state marathon saga (that's a marathon in each state - crazy!).
My husband, DIL and I decided to run the 5K on Saturday night - the half-marathon and marathon was Sunday night. I just wasn't feeling it - we flew in Saturday morning, I was tired, dehydrated, a little cranky and it was DARK at the start line. We were crammed in like sardines into the corrals. I came very close to saying "screw it!". Hubby and DIL couldn't even get into our corral! But as we got going and got to the Strip there was more light and it wasn't so bad.
My time wasn't spectacular (31:01) but I was the first in our trio to cross the finish line. I was amazed to find that I finished in the top 17% for my age group of females, in the top 26% for all females and in the top 33% overall. Over 4,600 people ran this race!
Take aways from my second race: I do NOT like to run in the dark or in the evenings. Let me run in the morning or not at all - lol! And the first mile feels like 10 and the third mile always feels short. I guess that's a good thing :-)
And getting a MEDAL for just finishing is AWESOME!
Actually 31:01 is an AWESOME time to finish a 5K! Great job, Tracy!!
