I was looking at the IDS New Whey Liquid Protein Variety Pack 42 grams per 3.8 oz

If you looks at the ingredients, the first one listed is "Complete Protein Matrix (IDS Proprietary Blend of Collagen Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate, Casein Protein Isolate).  Which is company-speak for it's mostly collagen based protein.  Collagen is not a complete protein, and you can't count it as part of your protein in-take for the day.  Since they don't list the percentages of the types of protein in their proprietary blend, I usually assume it's about 90% collagen, with a touch of whey and casein just so they don't get caught by the FDA for fraud.

You're much better off finding a whey or casein drink that you can tolerate.  Or find a way to make yogurt, cottage cheese, or whatever other protein sources you handle at this point.  Heck, a glass of milk has 10g of protein in it!

I would try Premier Protein, they have vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. 30 grams of protein in one jug and I think they are just over 11 ounces. Good luck, I know it has to be a struggle. I'm only six days post op and I only want to consume warm stuff. I have been throwing unflavored protein powder in beef, chicken & vegtable brother and strained egg drop and won ton soup.

Protein shots are made from a protein that isn't very usable by us, so you'll actually be able to use way less than the 80 grams claimed.  Skip them.

Is there a reason you aren't drinking normal protein shakes?

I remember seeing you at the Marriott so we had the surgery on the same day! I love drinking ISOPURE whey protein isolate bottles that have 40 g and they are at GNC; many flavors. These were my best friends the week after surgery as I did not want to drink the shakes. The green ones taste like watermelon!

A protein shake that I've enjoyed is the Syntrax Nectar brands. Specifically, Roadside Lemonade and the Lemon Iced Tea flavors. 23g protein & 100 cals per scoop and I usually mix one scoop per 8 oz water. I can't stand the thick creamy shakes and these are more like juice, which I really enjoy. They offer travel size samples too  (=1 scoop) so you don't have to buy one big container.

Also, the Unjury chicken broth whey protein is great. Mixed with hot (not boiling) water is a nice break from all cold drinks.

I fell in love with Chike's strawberry flavor shaken with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. It is fantastic. Their vanilla is really good too and is perfect as a base. a lot of people love their coffee edition too because it has real coffee in it!

PS The only place to find Chike is online!

I too thought that the Protein "shots" would be a great idea....second day out had my first one...watered it down like some had said....nastiest thing I ever tried!!!  I got about a quarter of it down before I dumped the rest of what I had and went to protein shakes.  Premier is what my NUT gave me in the hospital and with the 30 gms of protein, will be my "go to" for the next few weeks.  two of those are my main source of protein a day, along with the Greek yogurt and i found a protein filled tomato soup from Bariatric Advantage (15 gms in a serving).   Good luck!
