Protein powder?
I will start my pre-op soon and am wondering what Protein powder options are the best.
Is there one that will also be okay for the post op period? I don't remember what I used with my LapBand pre/post op.... Isopure? Unjury? Is there one that is acceptable during the clear liquid post op period?

I use Premier Protein ready-to-drink shakes, and I still drink one every morning (almost 9 months post-op now). No mixing needed, and I like the taste. Low carb, 30g protein, and easy to find (Costco, some grocery stores, etc). I only had a week of clear liquids, so I don't think I was supposed to worry about protein for the first few days - jus****er, diluted apple juice, SF jello. People's preferences really vary regarding protein, so expect a lot of different answers!
Good luck with your journey! It's SO worth it! :)
The Isopure RTD is fine for clear liquids. Well, "fine" is a relative term -- I found it absolutely gag-inducing and could only choke it down if I mixed it 50/50 with G2 or Powerade Zero. I much preferred the Syntrax Nectar powders in terms of clear liquids.
What protein you like is such an individual thing -- lots of people like the Premier Protein RTD, I really don't like them and in fact don't like any RTD protein. I like to use powders and mix my own, mostly using Carbmaster milk as my liquid base. My favorite brands are Chike, Unjury (chocolate splendor flavor), Syntrax Matrix, Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard, and Jay Robb. I also like the hot chocolate and hot cappuccino mixes from HealthSmart. If you are going to use powders, I recommend buying samples and trying them out after surgery to see what you like. If you are going to sample before surgery, make sure you get at least 2 samples of each flavor, since you might hate after surgery what you loved before, and you would want to confirm that you still like it after surgery before committing to a big tub.
Yes, I actually was thinking I would just get a couple of tubs of unflavored Unjury that I could add to my Crystal lights or sugar-free hot Cocoa.
Sample packs make more sense, I have noticed many people don't like or cant tolerate the same ones as pre-surgery.
