Why can't we chew and spit?

I assume you can, if you want to.  It's a sign of an eating disorder, so I wouldn't start down that road personally.  But what's stopping you from doing it if you want to?

Better yet, why not chew, swallow, and then throw it up. That way you get more taste out of it.

Just wondering why it wasn't more common...didn't realize it was a sign of an eating disorder..

I would recommend using this time to work on food issues. Having wls doesn't mean a lifetime of deprivation, but most of us got here because we never failed to 'satisfy a taste'.

Here's another thing to consider: you will eat most foods again. You would be wise though to follow the straight and narrow path and not cheat, even preop. Cheating leads to the mindset that one time didn't hurt, until next thing you know it's downhill at 40mph headed for disaster.

I would think that may be a very bad habit to take on...

I am  getting what the  the  issue is,  you have a craving if you do not swallow  you are having some kind of control don't you?    2 weeks out of surgery we obviously  have not fixed our eating problems, I see this as  cutting down on smoking and not quitting cold turkey.  I know I might be totally mistaken  but am not seeing the problem.  Isn't it like craving chocolate and only having a small piece or just a cookie instead of 10?   LOL am I trying to convine myself???

The bigger issue is why you are craving the chocolate?? It's a waste of calories, harmful to our bodies and counter productive to the whole purpose of having WLS...at 2 weeks out we need protein. We have to learn that we can't give into our cravings..

unlike smokers...we took a very drastic and life altering step to have surgery. We have to take a slightly different course. I've been on this forum for more than 4 years...the people giving into cravings at 2 week out tend to have at less success. Not saying it's true for everyone but I've seen a huge correlation.

It is inconceivable to me that so many responders don't see a problem with the OP's strategy. Absolutely inconceivable.
