I haven't.  I did take a PPI for the first three month post-op and I'm taking a course of Nexium right now, but for the most part I have had zero issues with acid.

My doctor asked me to take a Pepcid AC each morning and night.  I stopped taking it in the morning a month or so ago (surgery 6/2/14) and really, I don't think I need the nightly pill.

My stomach gets a little noisy, but not upset and definitely not reflux; I had that before.

Hey honerable - honestly, my gerd, heartburn and acid reflux surprising got WAY better after surgery :) I did take a PPI for the 1st month or so after surgery. I maybe need 1 now once a month or so, and only if I eat something really spicy our acidic. I did have a hiatal hernia repair during surgery too though, and hear those can cause gerd and acid reflux too.

Hi Honorable

I had horrible GERD before my surgery and had to have a Nissan done over 15 years ago to try to control it. I was still on acid blockers every day even after that surgery.

I am now 6 months out from my Nissan revision and VSG. I still have to take an acid blocker at least once a day and will have a problem at night if I eat something too close to bedtime. I may have to do this all my life, but having the sleeve done was still well worth it.

I'm just one of those people who produces way too much stomach acid. Waking up rudely aspirating stomach has taught me to not eat at least 2 hours before bedtime. If I feel I MUST have a snack around that time, then I have some yogurt or something that's easy to digest.

I did get reflux, but I take Omeprazole daily and that does the trick.

As an obese man I had reflux fairly regularly.Since VSG I have not had issues at all with reflux, but I did have some over production of acid issues - totally different from reflux and GERD. I take a PPI daily to deal with it, but in all honestly, I have contemplated stopping the PPI with doctor permission.

Getting your insides redone is a huge deal and not to be taken lightly. Good to see that you are being proactive and finding out everything you can before you make up your mind.
