I had a sleep study two years ago (due to migraines and tiredness all the time), I had a HARD time sleeping during the test, at the time since I didn't seep much they didn't have much to go on. So I really didn't follow thru.

Now fast forward to my pulmonary eval for surgery. I brought my sleep study 9 so i wouldn't have to do it again). The doc said everything was good, except when she went over the sleep study results from 2yrs ago it wasn't good. I had stopped breathing about 60 times. So in order to clear me for surgery I had to use the CPAP for a week of monitoring. My machine was nice it had a device that downloaded the info each night to the office. once I was on it that had me wear a pulse ox monitor with my CPAP, it showed the machine was working well.  So now I am cleared for surgery.  YIPPY!! I still use the machine and she said to continue to. I still have a hard time with it. I too have the nasal pillow piece, but I am making due.  She is pretty positive that once I lose the weight, I won't need the CPAP anymore.

Good Luck!

I have been on a CPAP for almost 8 years now.  I believe I was around 330-340 when I did the sleep study.  Have not had one since.  I love my machine as it really makes a difference in the morning.

My problem now, with my weight loss, I believe the settings are too strong(I am at 16).   For the last month, I have had trouble keeping my mouth closed and my mouth gets severely dried out and of course the cpap is less effective.  I think the pressure is causing this.

I am going Friday for a sleep study and hopefully I can get it adjusted down or maybe get rid of it.  While I love it, I would also love to not need it.
