IMHO, this seems like very unsound advice.  Unless you're having some type of medical issues that you haven't mentioned, you will have one helluva time losing weight during the honeymoon period eating that many calories.  I'm 8 months post surgery and still working around 800 calories a day.  

It's up to you what you choose to do, but I've never heard this advice given to a 6 week post surgery patient.  Is your NUT very young or new to the office?  Is she from your PCP's office or your surgeon's office?

Horrible advice. At this point most of us were concentrating on protein and getting in enough water. Is there any way you can see a dietician with bariatric experience?

When I had the lap band my nut advised 1200 calories a day - my surgeon had a COW over that one!

I now eat 800 per day MAX... and I lose weight steadily.  I'm super happy with my rate of loss.

And I agree - this is a waste of your honeymoon period - and unlike some marriages, you only get one honeymoon!  Make it count!
