I'm at 11wks and eat 600-700cal and that feels plenty for me. I wouldn't even know how to up it to over 1000. Do you feel like your overeating?

Some nutritionists are NUTS! I disagree with her assessment. I really don't think some of them are trained for our particular cir****tance and their advice seems to be way off base (in my humble opinion). I think you should back off a do what works for you. My personal maintenance caloric intake is 1200-1500, but I lost my weight at 600-900. Good luck!

You must permanently change your lifestyle if you want your weight loss to be permanent. You can do it!

That's a LOT of calories at 6 weeks out.  There's no possible way I could have done that so early.  The guidelines your NUT gave you for carbs per meal/snack are the guidelines I got when I was diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic...and this was long before surgery.  It's a "normie" diet...you are no longer a "normie".

Can you talk to your doctor about this?  NUTs aren't doctors or necessarily experts in post-WLS diets.  IMHO, it's too high in carbs and calories, especially for someone so soon after surgery.  She seems to be prescribing you a typical "weight loss" diet that would probably work for some pre-op.

NO!! NO!!!! NO!!!!! NO!!!!

i swear some NUTS just spit out whatever they learned in class

and don't take into consideration WLS..

Im over a year out and I only on most days eat 800-900 calories..

at 6 weeks if I was eating 400-500 max...

take advantage of this phase where weight loss seems effortless..it ain't gonna last!!

and live but the great words of FRISCO: UNDER EAT YOUR SLEEVE!!

weight and measure everything!!

So we're writing off the words of one nutritionist, whose training may or may not be reasonable, and then supposed to blindly trust the advice of another random "guru" on the internet? Ummm OK.

To the OP: If in doubt, seek a second medical opinion. Talk to your surgeon, a different nutritionist, or even an NP with experience working with WLS patient. It's good practice in general, but seems doubly sound now. :)

That's wayyyy to many calories at 6 weeks out.  The first couple of months after surgery I was eating 600 calories a day and worked up to 800 at 6 months out. I'm 2 years out and eat 1400 calories a day.

Come keep it real in R&R 3.0 Want an invite? PM me here.

Telling someone 6 weeks out to eat 1400 calories per day is CRAZY.  I am 7 years out and I maintain my weight at 1400 calories!

You were doing fine before at 600-800. My personal opinion, like many of of the folks who have already responded, is that you should go back to that.

the whole point of the surgery is to eat way less. Eating way less forces your body to burn off the stored fat and that is how you lose weight.

It seem counterproductive to eat so many calories that your body has no need to burn off the stored fat. I would totally. Not follow that advice. I would go. Back to 6-800 cal and let the NUT fuss if she wanted to,but that is what I would do.
