pain upper left

so I'm a little over a week post op. still having pain in the upper left side Doc said its because I have a stitch in the muscle there.  Did anyone else have this. How long till pain gets better.  

Oh yeah, that was awful!  I felt better lifting my left foot up on a small stool when I would be standing up.  I think it lasted about 3 weeks or so.
