first of all we are all here for the same reasons so don't be embarrassed. I understand you being nervous I still have 2 more nutrition visits before my insurance will cover any of my surgery. I too can't believe food has such control over me I almost get depressed when I think about not being able to eat what I want but I am looking forward to starting my new life. you will be fine and I wish you luck.

I am very excited for you.   I have been waiting for over 2 years to get approved jumping through insurance hoops.  That and finding a good Dr who would do the surgery in spite of some complications from previous hernia repairs.  I finally have a date for June 18 th and it can't get here soon enough!   I have been super emotional and can't blame it on the diet.   Just the thought of having a life again, will I make it,  will the sleeve be enough or will I have to have a duodenal switch later.  Lots of thoughts racing,  but I have to check myself.  I can only do this one day at a time,  savoring each pound lost forever as a victory.   I don't want to get caught up in tomorrows "what ifs" and lose sight of effectively using my new tool in the here and now.  I hope you are thoroughly happy and enjoy your new life!   Savor your successes now.   I wish you all the best!

Stephen, P.S. I was at 451 2.5 years ago, I am now  at 349 . I was so pleased to find out that we can renew our life. That someone else has confidence in us. I have been changing my eating habits since then. I am so excited about being down so low. It has been hard work and any major life changes are hard work.

Hello just wanted to share I was 455 my first appointment. I lost down to 423 during the 6 month period. I lost 136 pounds in a year. I have been stuck for a few months but have lost almost 180 pounds total. So yeah I think you can do it. Also the sleeve was originally started as the first part of the DS and then they started doing it as a stand alone. So to revise to an RNY would be pointless I would think if that had to happen they would revise to a DS. I could be wrong.

Hi Steve,

I hear you on the liquid diet, as I started mine yesterday.  It was tough last night when the rest of my family was having burgers, chips, etc. last night.  My surgery is on 5/22.  Your situation is how the VSG came about....Higher BMI patients had a vsg done first, since it is not as risky, to lose a bunch of weight to make the second surgery less complicated.  The patients were losing so much weight with the VSG, that the second surgery was not necessary.  Good luck with you surgery.

Kevin.
