Alison, thank you for sharing this journey with us.  It is really hard for me to even put into words how courageous and strong you are and how much you inspire me.  You teach me with every post, that real strength and success comes from going forward, getting back up when we fall and looking for a better path forward. I wish I could hug you and hold you and tell you how beautiful I think you are in real life both inside and out.  Please keep posting your truth here, I for one need to hear it.  Hugs my friend.

Thank you so much - this means a lot to me. I never quit fighting even if I say I have...I'll never be able to sit with the quitting feelings....that would be more overwhelming than any other obstacle I have or might have. I cant wait to see every one again soon and be so much healthier!  Youve continued to motivate me with your own struggles and hopefully we will all be able to reach our goals.

Wonder post!  Goes to show that sometimes- some of the "fat" is in our heads and hearts, and it sounds like you have dropped a ton-o-the****!  Hard and scary work.  Well done, girl.  Years ago I had the opportunity to go inpatient for some serious "adult childof..."issues and your post took me back to that time.  It was good and freeing.  Keep up with the aftercare!  There is mental maintenance involved here; like you have weeded your garden, but you know those little weeds keep reappearing and need daily tending...Glad to see you back.  Your joy is a beautiful thing.  Carry on-your strength is rising  bonnie

Thanks for the continuing support here even when I fall off the planet. I like the analogy with the garden - ive got a double maintenance goal but sooo worth the mental freedom.

Beautiful post!  I can relate to everything you have written. I too had PTSD and a very dysfunctional life in general. I was in a good place before surgery (did a program like you and also rapid eye movement therapy to help with the flashbacks, etc. )but must admit that my negative self talk is back full blast making it very hard to lose my regain.  I know I need to return to meditation and journaling and maybe see a therapist to remind me of my positive attributes but my self esteem is so low it is very hard to take action. I applaud you for taking care of yourself which can be very hard to do. Good luck with your back surgery.

Hi Alison,

It was great to hear from you again and to absorb your positive energy. I too use negative statements to myself; I need to learn that the cup can be half full! I look forward to reading all the upcoming inspirational posts that you will make. Take care, I think of you often, Vera
