Water retention, not enough fluids? Powerade Zero?
Hey All and Happy Easter! Okay, so I am doing good on the protein (2 shakes a day and eating something at lunch), but having a hard time with the fluids the last few days. The 1 drink that I am able to drink the most of thus far (I like the taste) is the Powerade Zero. It has about 325 mg Per bottle, and 2 bottles has the 64 ounces required. Do you all think that is too much sodium in a day? I feel puffy, like I am retaining water. Also, I am now at day 6 with no weight loss. I just bounce back and forth between 2 lbs. Thanks All!
I don't know about the sodium, I don't care about it in my own diet and haven't noticed any problems with this practice.
As far as the weight goes and water retention goes though, remember that you just had major surgery where they pumped you full of gas and fluids. Chances are, these things, as well as swelling, are still a factor with what's going on in your body. So I wouldn't worry too much. I tried to wait until 2 weeks post-op to weigh myself for the first time.

Thanks Gwen! I know I should just concern my self with getting this fluids in, regardless of the sodium, etc. I can tell I am going to be a slow mover as far as foods go. If I try to eat at every meal (soft/mushie) then I am too full for anything e;se. I know with time this will all come together smoother!
No,
In fact in my weight loss phase the docs wanted me to have the sodicum, as my sodium was low and causing *edit low blood pressure. If you use mfp you will tell if your daily sodicum is going high or not, but it is very unlikely given our small portions. Get those fluids in!

I drink most of my fluids in Powerade zero. I'm not really puffy (I was for a few weeks after surgery)! I kind of figure that holding onto extra water is ok-it won't affect my fat loss.
Also-fat has a lot of water in it-so as we lose fat, the percentage of free water goes up. I looked this up after i noticed on my scale that the water percentage kept going up, while the fat percentage was going down.

It's sooo good! Sometimes I will refill it with water and put flavor drops in-just to save from going through so many of these bottles!

My doc told me Powerade Zero was perfect. I used tooget horrible leg cramps, and the PZ really helped with those. And my blood pressure is so low now that he actually wants me to get more sodium.
