hemp hearts and chia seeds
I just bought a bag of each and was wondering what we can do with them. Any ideas? I'm a little concerned about the chia seeds expanding after they are eaten, as I've read that they grow to 12x their size.

I don't know about hemp hearts but my favorite use of chia seeds is chia pudding. It's an overnight thing and you can google all sorts of recipes. This way, they're already expanded when eaten. However, one of the ladies here adds them to her yogurt and eats it and I tried it that way, too, w/ no issues. But it does really thicken the yogurt more than I loved.
I blend them in with my smoothies, sprinkle them on salads. You can use them anywhere you might want to thicken up something. They're great for you.

Considering they are tiny 12 times their size isn't that huge. I haven't had a problem with them. Chia seeds in Greek yogurt is how I eat them. I also eat hemp hearts (super high in protein!) and I love them. I sprinkle them on "salad" I put that in quotation marks because while it is a salad I don't use much lettuce. It's more like a garnish for the other things in my "salad"
I'm the yogurt lady that one of the other posters was referring to. I pretty much have chia seeds every day and so does Kairk, who posts on here regularly. You're far enough out that a little expanding of the seeds isn't going to hurt you at all. In fact, it might help provide some more satiety. Do they expand to 12x their size? Doubtful, because I use a tablespoon and if they actually DID expand that much I would be sick or throwing up for sure.
I have another friend that adds them to his coffee or protein drinks every day. I tried that but hate the mess that it leaves in the cup. So many stick to the side that I think a lot gets wasted.
