I would check out Elmhurst hospital website if you want to stay in your area but honestly They have 3 offices Elk Grove is close to you. I would go to the seminar and check it out that's what I did. Plenty of info on this group.

I used Dr. Heydari out of Crystal Lake. It was a drive for me, but he was so worth it. I had RNY, but he also does VSGs.

I used Dr Tiesenga out of St Joseph in Lincoln Park.  I'd recommend the team.

I used Dr. Enrique Elli at UI at Chicago.

I could have gone anywhere and I live in the West Suburbs.  UIC has a high rating in type of patients that can see, highest weight accommodations. Dr. Elli has been doing bariatric surgery for over 15 years or so and been doing sleeves 10 years I believe.  He also has a private practice in the Northern suburbs primarily for bands. He also specializes in hernia/stomach surgeries, all robotic.

The only thing I didn't like is that the wait to see him can be ridiculously long.  If you look up success ratings/rankings, note that the patient population is much different than at say CDH or Northwestern.  They deal with patients that are on medicaid and very low income.    I work at at UIC in a research lab, and trusted the opinion of my weight loss doc, *****commended Dr. Elli and said "I'd send my family members to him."  That carried a lot of 'weight' with me, so I went with him. I am totally happy I did.

It isn't Northwestern or Rush, but you will get great care at the UIC hospital.

I am in the faaaaar western burbs, and I decided it was worthwhile to go to Northwestern. My surgeon was excellent and I felt that I was in good hands while in the hospital. I'm not thrilled with the nutritionist--she's a lovely person, but I find her plan, especially with regard to carbs, far too lenient. But, I followed the lower carb plan often seen on these boards and I've been very successful.
