Getting back on track...one step at a time

First, this new OH crap makes me never want to use this site again.

But, Ive slowly started to talk myself in to stopping my train wreck...I went and filled my refrigerator with all the staples I used to eat...cottage cheese, string cheese, greek yogurt, and made some dense protein meals to leave in there.

I started the day off with good intentions for a low calorie day, but by the time I got home, that plan started unraveling pretty quick.

But, i found it a litle easier to see the good - i got more protein than I had been getting, drank more water than I had been drinking, etc.

So, my new plan - simply put, is to do a little bit better each day. Whether I have less sugar, less carbs, more protein, more water, less compulsive eating - then I will consider it a win, until my days start becoming more "optimal for weight loss" But for now, Im not going to worry too much about the scale.

Somewhat ironically, this is kind of where I started when I was 420 lbs....cut one bad thing out at a time, slowly adding healthy stuff until I built habits that were sustainable...and it lead me down a good 2 years worth of healthy habits....so...here I go again.

Alison I find your words encouraging and will adopt your statement "So, my new plan - simply put, is to do a little bit better each day", as my plan as well. All we can really do is try our best at any given moment.

I hope your back is getting better and returning to work helps you out in structuring your day. Take Care.

Returning to work has made my life so much better - super stressed and all - it keeps me walking all day and keeps my back from getting tight. So far my epidural is working so praying it stays like that.

Im going to start putting my goal for the day somewhere where I'll see it - even if I only plan to eat 5g less of sugar than the day before....it might not be a big deal but it will add up and at least make me feel like I have goals again.

Focusing on the postive has been impossible for the last couple months, so this is definitely a welcomed change that came on somewhat unexpectedly this morning.

Alison, baby steps are still steps in the right direction :)  I'm happy that you're feeling better and moving forward.  It isn't always easy but it'll be worth it.  I'm right there with you!  Making baby steps each day to do a little better.  Hang in there!

*hugs*  Rome wasn't built in a day...we didn't get fat overnight and we won't get skinny overnight either.  But we're moving in the right direction!  ;)

Girl I am right there with you. I have  totally went off track food wise and I finally admitted it to myself today, truly. I still f'ing love carbs. But back to basics now. One step at a time. It isnt an easy journey but with the helpful posts and words of encouragement and suggestions from our fellow WLS peeps, we can do this! I stocked up on greeks and cottage cheese as well.

I made protein pumpkin cream cheese muffins the other night and they are fab. Even my family enjoys them! I have been stalled for almost 2 months now, I did finally get my ass back to the gym, but only since Sunday. Uh, slacker! One step at a time. I planned on my dinner tonight too- so I wont eat what is made by my mom, I will make a chicken meal for myself and I will have left overs boom. Thank god for pinterest, especially Keith's ideas!

Its all about the planning! I can't do this if I dont prepare ahead of time. Now...to just remember that....
