Hydrostatic Weighing

Kind of excited! Checked with my local college and their health & wellness program does hydrostatic weighing (underwater) to determine body composition. It's the gold standard for figuring out your percentage of body fat vs lean muscle mass.  I know I'm still 30 lbs. overweight according to the BMI chart but I suspect I'm a lot more pounds over-fat.  All those years of being morbidly obese have hurt my ratio of fat to lean muscle mass.

They also do a skinfold test at the same time - all this for only $40!  I just hope the results don't bum me out. (Sorry, ma'am...but you have 50 lbs. of FAT you still need to lose. Arrrrgh!). The idea is to get a good idea of my starting point and then do the hard work to get to a healthy percentage of body fat.

I go in two weeks...wish me luck!

Yes, but you can work with this! Increase muscle-building exercise and burn that fat!

Contacting a college is such a great idea. I asked about hydrostatic measurements at my gym but they dont have any way to do them.

Thanks for the tip!

UNO - just call the HPER building. I wish I had done this pre-op! Would be great to see the difference. I'll probably do it again un 6 months.
