Spinal surgery update - kind of a nightmare
Oh Candy - I am SOOO sorry that you are in so much pain! I am glad that the surgery went well, but the amount of pain you are in is ridiculous! I really hope you get some relief soon!

sorry to hear that it's rough but i have to believe it will get better. It's a pretty major surgery and skeletal pain is really hard to control and to explain to someone. I think it varies so much from person to person that they just dont understand when it's really bad and even if they do understand, they dont know what to do about it but throw more pain meds at it ... blah, jsut sucks. i spent 2 months on morphine and tylenol and muscle relaxants after one of my vertibrae collapsed ... hobbling around with my oversized walker (once i could walk!) that didnt even fit through the door. it's not a fun time. this past week i've been out of commission with a back hernia or something and i got some serious bad flashbacks to my time in the hospital. I dont have any advice for ya other than to say i know where you are coming from!
Well the only advice i have you probably already know about. if you are a fan of topical gels, look around for some BIOFREEZE gel. I used to practically bathe in the stuff. it's a hot/cold type of thing like myoflex, except that it's stronger and lasts way longer. doesnt do much for the skeletal pain, but it sure helps those muscles that are doing double duty while it heals.
hope things improve quickly!
oh man when is your follow-up appt? i hope this pain goes away soon!! how awful!
Candy, sweetie, that is not the update any of us wanted to hear. I am so sorry that you are having a rough recovery. I know you went in hoping for the best and looking for relief for the pain you were already experiencing. This is just a temporary setback. You will get through this. Please take care and feel better real soon.
I am so terribly sorry to hear about everything you have gone thru this past week. It definitely sounds like a nightmare. I am glad that you stood up for yourself and didn't let them send you home. I was sleeved on Monday and had a tremendous amount of pain, which is not normal for me post-surgery, and I had to fight to keep my "magic button" pump. But, I knew that if they took it away I was going to be in horrible pain and not able to go home. I will continue to pray that you will find some relief asap! Please keep us updated!
I've got a buddy at work going through some serious spinal issues, too. It's no fun to see him struggling so much.
Good for you for self-advocating, too.
Rest up, and get well soon.
Laurie
