Hopefully the last chapter of my spinal issues, surgery this morning
So, back surgery is this morning. A double lumbar fusion. I'm not so nervous about the surgery itself but about the recovery. I'm having the lower two levels fused. As much as my doctor didn't want to blame it on my weight, at the end of the day, it's definitely one of the causes (and just bad luck). We're removing the two degenerated discs (and by "we" I mean "him"), replacing it with a material and putting a long rod in with screws. I'm not sure about recovery, but I've got my team settled so I can take a month fully off to heal and another month of part time, as needed. I may be in a freaking walker for a couple of weeks and need help with my basic care.
Hubby's a teacher, thank goodness. SO nervous.
I'll ask one of my FB friends to post here when I've officially not died and am in my room (likely towards the end of the day). **deep breaths**.
Here we go...
