Lab tests

I had some blood tests ordered by my PCP because I had been extremely tired all the time, low blood pressure readings and slow heart rate. So I just took a glance at the results ( I have access to my records) but I will not see doctor until tomorrow to get results. Everything looks good except the prealbumin is low and the total protein in high. They are both out of range by a little bit.

Not sure what to think except that maybe I need to up my protein?

Was it a fasting blood test panel?

My labs are always fasting tests  due to lipids being included in the panel (which means they're anywhere from 12 to 13 hours after my last protein meal of the prior day), and my prealbumin is always low.    Prealbumin measures your current protein level, so to speak.

You definitely need to see what your doctor says about it, but my surgical people aren't concerned about my prealbumin being low because of the fasting aspect of all of my labs to date.   Hope this helps.

Yes, it was a fasting blood test panel. That makes sense but we'll see what the doc says and I will also run it by my surgical people and get their feedback as well.

Thanks for your reply.
