Terrified!!!
You are not alone!!! I am fine one day and terrified the next. I have had over a dozen surgeries and I realized it's not the surgery I am scared about, but more of the after surgery part. I mean when I typically go into surgery I know that I am going to feel crappy for a few days, then I will start to get to do normal things and with in a few weeks my life goes back to normal. That is not the case with this surgery. VSG is going to change my life! Hubby is 8 days post-op and his life is already so different then before surgery. Different in a good way, but still different. Humans are creatures of comfort, we don't like change and we freak out when we know it's coming. I am sure that your surgery is going to go great on Friday and you are going to feel crappy for a few days and then you start to feel better and get used to the changes and when the weight starts falling off you are going to be super excited!! (excuse my serious run-on sentence there lol) Good Luck on Friday and I will be saying a prayer for you!! Make sure that you keep us updated on your progress!!
When I had surgery, I told them at the pre-op interview that I was afraid of nausea so they gave me some strong anti-nausea drugs. I didn't have any nausea.
So ask for what you need. I think it'll be ok.
Good luck with your surgery and your weight-loss journey.

WHat your feeling is normal. Maybe this will help. My sleeve recovery was MUCH easier than my recovery from my two C-sections. My surgery was from 9am to 10am and I was ready to go home by 4. The only pain I had was when I leaned forward, as in getting out of bed......reaching the toilet paper while sitting on the toilet...getting into the car.....anything that causes you to scrunch your abdominal area. You'll do great and in a few weeks you'll be telling us how much weight you've lost and how much better you feel. Try positive talk about how much you want this surgery, how confident you are with your surgeon, and my favorite is confidence in myself and the decision I've made. You'll do fine.....just believe and then experience the happiness you will feel when you are achieving your goals. Best wishes!!
I was really scared before surgery too, scared of the unknown. it has now been 1 1/2 years since surgery, and I would 100% do it again. No regrets at all. Life is so good. Ive lost 130 lbs, and everything is better. I have had no problems with the surgery or eating. I did have a little nausea, but it seems to pass quickly. It is life changing, for the good.
You wil be fine, its a good thing.
