My post-op life and behavior are completely different than that awful pre-op diet period

I agree with this post completely.  I have 0 desire for food and zero cravings post-op.....pre-op my appetite was insatiable and my pre occupation with food never ended.

I was never on a full liquid pre-op diet...
I had to do 2 protein shakes as meal replacement and 1 meal..
So I did what I called my farewell to food tour..that 1 meal I was allowed,
I ate what I wanted, where I wanted...if I wanted blueberry pancakes at Cracker Barrel that day that's what I had for my 1 meal....worked for me I lost 17 lbs in the 2 months I was on the pre-op diet it started with just 1 meal replacement and the last 2 weeks went to 2 meal replacements...

I didnt. If any weight is gained during those 2 weeks and you haven't lost 5% of the weight you need to loose - my surgeon wouldn't perform surgery. SO.... I was too scared to cheat ha.

Once you cheat, it's that much harder to start over all again. Once you've eaten all those carbs and gotten out of ketosis your going to have to go through that first day or two of hunger again. Once I got over like day 3 of my 2 weeks, I didn't even want real food anymore. Ok, I wanted it. But, I needed feel like I needed it.

I have not cheated. Although it has been tempting. I keep telling myself if I cheat now then I won't stop myself after surgery, so I can't give myself permission to cheat now.

I did cheat a bit.  My husbands 40th birthday fell in my 2 week pre-op.  I told him we could go to Bob Evans, or Ihop.  I ordered 2 eggs and water.  But I had dinner with my man :)

About the 2nd week, my chicken soup was just about to gag me, so I added a few slices of mushrooms to it, just for some texture.

I don't think diet soda pop was actually cheating, but I did guzzle the bejesus out of it, because I knew I would miss that the most.

I ate everything not nailed down the two weeks before my two week pre-op, so it was out of my system.

I did not cheat, not even once, on my pre op diet. My surgeon told me what to do and I wanted to have the easiest surgery and recovery that I could. I trusted him and he trusted me to do my part.

"One little cheat" can turn into one big cheat. Suck it up, do your stuff and stick with it. You can do it.
