Did you cheat on your pre-op diet the first week ??? out of 14 days....
Yes, the cheating is called "Food Funerals". And lets just say I had food funerals and wakes almost everyday until the final week of my surgery. I had the fear that my eating life was OVER. So, I did horrible on my pre-op diet. In fact a gained 7 lbs. But I got my act together and recognized lack of discipline, control, and the excuse of there's always another day to start is why I became over weight. Every since I accepted responsibility I've been on track, working the sleeve, and have never looked a back. In fact I'm smiling cause one of my skinny "friend-enemies" at work popped in my office and paid me compliment on my weight loss and then she asked me when was I going to STOP losing weight. I was was floored. But I luuuuuved it. :)
My pre op diet was different. Mine was not all liquid, but I had to eat 70 + grams of protein a day and less than 30 g carbs a day. I thought about cheating a lot, but I never did. In the end my fear of the surgeon not doing the surgery because of fatty liver outweighed my desire for things I could not have. I think in the end that this is really good practice for after surgery when you can't eat anything at all because you could seriously hurt yourself. I am almost one week post op. Getting sleeved was the best decision I have made for my health ever. It has been a strenuous journey though.
I did not, but many people do. The idea is to stick withit. Its a bit of a test for yourself too. If you can't do that for 14 days how are you going to live with a restricted diet the rest of your life. I made a mental committment when I decided on a date that this was going to be forever. Now I realize forever is a very long time and who know what is going to happen tomorrow but I get my head into the game. I would seriously advise working on getting the things in your head that cause you to eat for whatever the reason (stress, boredom, etc.) set right before you start this process. It sounds like you are already anticipating not making, I would suggest if that is the case maybe you want to give it some more time. The idea is to be successful, not just give it a try.
Sorry if that was a bit up in your grill but I truly want everyone on here to be successful and if you don't have your head right wanting to eat with 1/10th of your stomach is just plain torture.
You can do this! But keep in mind, this is not a magic bullet. You have a lot of work ahead of you.
I did cheat. On the second day I ate a 12 inch pizza. It didn't feel good. It didn't feel like what I really wanted but more like I was grieving something. I got past it and was tempted to cheat more, but as each day got closer to surgery, I was terrified cheating might be revealed somehow to the surgeon and they wouldn't do the surgery. He'd know if my liver had shrunk and I was scared he'd know if there was anything in my system.
I Totally hear ur struggle I feel weak n shaky n dizzy n get headaches when I don't eat so the pre op scares me a little but I'm allowed a minimal amount of fruit in each protein shake blended up so that's good. At least my blood sugar won't drop too much. I know everyone's pre op is different. A higher BMI to lower the fatty tissue around the liver might be a lot stricter. I don't know y people's vary so much though good luck to success.
