NSV: Outside in Austin's Summer and NOT sweating my butt off...
We went to a funky little urban drive-in here in Austin to watch The Princess Bride. It was 85-90 tonight... but... I wasn't sweating. Yeah, it was warm out there, but I wasn't miserable. I was actually quite comfortable. There was a little bit of a breeze blowing and I was sitting out there with my family in chairs watching a silly movie that we all love, enjoying each other and having a great time.
THIS kind of stuff is why I had surgery and why I worked so hard to lose the weight. All these every day moments that we take for granted. We had an amazing time and loved every minute of it. My kids are 10 and 12 and pretty soon they won't want to hang with mom and dad doing stuff like this, so I treasure every moment :)

I always hated/dreaded going to states like TX because of the heat..... just not fun when your fat and sweating before you even leave the air conditioned room....... need a shower before you even get to the car......
I even got to the point where I was booking vacations in colder times of the year....... NY and Tokyo in the summer ..... not good....
Congrats on your "new" enjoyment of Texas !

I am enjoying this side effect also, for the most part. My question for you, Candy, since you are a lot further out than I, when will I ever be warm again???? I am freezing almost all the time. It's better when I'm outside now with the warmer weather, but inside buildings with air conditioning and even in my house at night, I'm such a freeze baby! Will this get better? I had no idea I could be so cold!
I still run the heater at my desk in the mornings. It's BETTER, but it still sucks.

You are so right, Candy, it's these everyday things that make this so worthwhile!!!!!!
I'm so happy for you -- that's a terrific NSV. I could testify also about how being severely obese ruined outings for us, with or without the kids, because of how cross I would become over being so uncomfortable. I was similarly grumpy about trying to sleep during hot, humid NJ summers.
I can't give those moments back to my family, but at least my daughter and son have a new-attitude mom now who is game to do things outdoors and who won't wilt any sooner than they do, at least. :) Like your kids, mine are still young enough to want to do things with us.
