Much to my dismay, I'm going to have gallbladder surgery. I'm going on vacation first dammit...we've already paid for it!

My  WLS surgeon is not performing the surgery.  Anybody else have surgery post VSG care to share their experience?  Ease my mind, please.  I really could do without having surgery.  Thanks!

I too needed my gallbladder out, I had it done 6 weeks ago.  I'd like to tell you it was a pc of cake, and for some people it sounds like it really is. I unfortunately, was much more uncomfortable than I had anticipated. I am also having a lot of pain still in the gallbladder area on my back. I've learned this can be very common and can last for up to 6 months. I don't want to scare you...you might sail through it no problem. Enjoy your vacation and don't think about it, you will be glad when it's over and rid of the gallbladder pain.

Thanks for the rely!  Did your VSG surgeon do your surgery?  I was self pay, so because I want insurance to cover another surgeon is doing it .  Makes me a little nervous.  I'm sure it will all be fine.

I'm sorry your recovery has been difficult.  Feel better soon.

As you were self pay to bad you didn't know you had problems with it.  Some surgeons will do the GD which insurance pays for an only charge you the difference.

Four months after my VSG I had to have mine out as well. My WLS surgeon did with a robot and through my belly button. Stayed one night in the hospital. Went back to work two weeks later, had some pain for quite some time but really learned to listen to my body, when I was sore I took it easy (not something I'm good at).

I was able to stay on my diet and just kept going. Now at 8 months out I'm 5 pounds under goal. My advice, let yourself heal and take it easy. Sending you big hugs for a quick recovery friend, stay positive and consider it a minor bump in the road. You've got this girl!!!
