The low-down on the plastic surgeon consult this morning...
I had to start anxiety meds b/c of the thought of going to MX for surgery but it was just the perfect set of factors for me - price wise for sure (there was a $33k different between what I was quoted for 4 surgeries, not to mention all the lost work it would have requried to do all that. There's something to say about waking up and it's ALL done.
Ok ok i wont try and talk you into it.....i';ll go alone then! But if you reconsider :-p
I might even be worth getting a email consult with Dr. S to see what he recommend in terms of procedures. He's worked with a lot of that had all this skin so he could tell you what need to be done.
Either way - hip hip horray!

Thank, thank, thank you for sharing. Amazingly great detail. My sister had gastric bypass 10 years ago and has been wearing her excess skin since. I'm hoping I can convince her to think about plastics especially after reading your blog.
I'm looking at double fusion in the lumbar this summer also. Go us! I'm still new to this sleeve business and was hoping to get a bit further before I had to face the neurosurgeon again. Physical therapist assures me we should feel much better after.
Ah... fusions. They are SO much fun. Not. I had emergency neck fusion surgery a year ago, so I know what I'm in for. It sucks, but it is what it is... best of luck... ((HUGS))

I've heard you should wait a year before doing skin surgery after you reach your goal because your skin will shrink a little bit in that first year. From what you gathered, if your skin did shrink a little, would it cost you less? How did you hear about your surgeon? I live in Ohio and although I've got 36 pounds to go, I've never liked my breasts so I know this is something I'd want done. Also I would probably want my saggy chin skin and tummy done also. I can live with my bat wings and saggy thighs for now maybe. Ha.
I'm 52 and things aren't going back the way they did when I lost a lot of weight at 40!
It's not going to shrink all that much. I weighed 375 pounds. My skin is very thin and I've been obese for 30 years. I'm being realistic. As I said in my blog, 2 friends recommended him to me.
Surgeon wants 3-4 months at a stable weight before he'll do plastics. Every surgeon is different though!

WOW! 30 years! You have done amazing! Seeing your pictures, it's hard to believe you weighed that much. You look like someone who's been thin their whole life. I have extra chin skin already after just 68 pounds! I hate it! I have to do something eventually because I'm 52 and I know my skin will NOT shrink back down. I need to find someone in Ohio who does good work and save my money. I don't know anyone well enough to ask who did their work! It was nice to get an idea how much it will cost with no insurance. I got a letter right after I was approved from my insurance company, saying they wouldn't pay for skin removal. Ahhhh!
Enjoyed your post! I am SO, SO excited for you!! I'm hoping that you are able to get everything that you want... you deserve it!!

I would love to go to him!
I always wonder about plastics...where do people just get $30k - $40k from????? I asked my husband if I could drain his 401k (I work as well, and actually earn double what he makes, but I don't have a 401k), and he said, "I'd rather have you keep your current body and save the money" - LOL!
I had to take out a loan for my VSG so I'm sure we'll do the same thing for my plastics. It's not about the money for us. It's about comfort and feeling good about myself. It's pretty horrible at this point. Luckily, my hubby is 1000% behind me.
I think he just wants me to have big boobs he can oogle.
