Yesterday I was so hungry. TODAY I have all my foods!! I already made my protein shake for lunch because I REFUSE to be hungry like I was yesterday. I ate dinner so fast I didn't taste it!! I wanted to eat EVERYTHING in sight. Today will be better. I command my mind to only think about the foods I'm SUPPOSED to eat!! 13 more days to sleeve!! Yayyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!! Let's go pre-ops...we can do this!!!

I had my surgery on Monday, and the liver shrink diet will be so helpful if you stick to it. One of my girlfriends didn't do the preshrink diet and she had a ton of pain where they put the liver retractor. I fortunately have no pain there at all. I just feel like I did a killer ab workout. So if that gives you any incentive to stick with it and do what you need to do, great! Just remember this is temporary. Also after around day 5 of he preop diet I just simply wasn't hungry. You have to deal with the head hunger but physical hunger not so much. Good luck and God bless.

I agree - by day 5 it got a lot easier.

Drink water... not only does it fill you up, but it will keep you hydrated.  Try Crystal Lite, there are tons of flavors, so whenever you feel the hunger signal... DRINK, DRINK, DRINK...  After a few days the signals will subside and you will wonder what you were worrying about in the first place... Best of Luck, but you'll be just fine.

thank you for posting this Ruthie!  It never even occurred to me about the retractor.  I am just gathering info right now and am scheduled to do the information seminar on the 14th.  I have been reading and talking to people who have had different surgeries.  There is a wealth of information out there as well as people who are generous with their experience.  I will definitely be faithful to the liver shrink if it will help my recovery.  Good luck in your surgery, recovery and moving forward!

I am doing okay. I am sore but it's not unbearable. It is interesting that stuff tastes WAY too sweet. Almost like you open a pack of sweeter and put it in your mouth. Walked around the block twice today. Felt good to get outside. One warning which may be way too much information but after surgery since you are not getting any fiber in and your drinking protein your tummy can get a bit weird. In a word if you feel like you need to fart, run to the bathroom. Enough said. I will tell ya like it is (at least for me) if you want to know. --ruthie

Hang in there!! I'm on Day 4..... I've been so so lucky because I haven't felt any hunger at all and I've felt completely normal. People always say it gets easier after day 3-5.... but I'm worried I will have the opposite... start of strong and then have it be impossible near the end when it counts the most! lol!!

We can do this!
