I was tested for all illegal substances (pot as well as other drugs like pain killers that weren't prescribed within the last 6 months) and nicotine. I had to stay smoke free for 6 months.

Ok, so I'm old and haven't gotten high in probably about 35 years, but I remember how I LOVED eating when I was high.  I'd go to my best friends house and we would lie on our backs, look at the ceiling fan and eat dry roasted peanuts (they were pretty new then).  Do they still call it "getting the munchies"?  Anyway, pot enhanced the act of eating because ever taste, sensation, smell, sense, etc. was magnified.  I LOVED how food felt in my mouth as I was chewing it.  I loved how my brain told me that whatever I was eating was the most perfect food ever created.  I loved the sensation of the chewed food sliding down my throat.  When I was high i could just eat forever and ever because it was all so fabulous.  Then I would eventually slip into blissful dreamland and wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed.

The point to all that is that I'm a little worried that if your friend is getting the sleeve, but also gets high, that this could be really counter-productive.  I can't answer the question about the doctor or insurance requirements, but I hope your friend will be OK and not do anything that could put her sleeve success in jeopardy.

I went through NorCal Kaiser. I was tested and had to be clean x 3 months also. My doctor explained that 1. It's very easy for a secondary addiction to take hold after the surgery (since we can't use food as an addictive substance) and 2. It's really counterproductive to get the munchies after being sleeved. Kaiser also addresses drug and alcohol use during the psychiatric screening prior to surgery. Kaiser has lots of hoops to jump through - just keep jumping (do everything they tell you) and you'll eventually get to your surgery date. And you will probably learn some things about yourself in the process, which IMO is a good thing.

I think that you can try taking some CBD oil for example. It is a really good thing and it works pretty well for most purposes. I like taking it a lot, and I often use it for me. What do you think about such supplements?
