I am pre-op. I purchased the Vanilla Muscle Milk protein powder. Testing it out for my Liver Shrink...What do you all think about it? I made a smoothie, protein, frozen strawberries, pineapples and pineapple juice. This was not a "pre/post-op" smoothie criteria, just a taste test...Input plz!

Muscle Milk has a lot of fat and calories, so BEWARE. My favorite, (as a treat) is one scoop MM graham cracker powder, 1/2 scoop Scivation-Vanilla Heaven, and about 1/4 of a banana mixed with ice and water. I like this protein shake before or after the gym as a treat to myself to restore protein.

I would go for the Muscle Milk Lite. The regular stuff is for bodybuilders trying to bulk up and endurance athletes training for things like marathons and Ironman who are burning a ton of calories.

Plus the Lite tastes better. (To me.)

Is this in the protein powder or just the regular shake?

Muscle Milk light is the way to go.  Try chocolate flavor, it is palatable.  I find the whey based proteins to be hard on my stomach, even though they have the best ratio of Protein to Carbs.  If you cant drink it without a gassy upset stomach, you wont use it in the long run.  So find drinks which are high in protein, low in Carbs/Fats/Calories and go with these.

My 3 teenage sons are all trying to gain weight. (Something I know nothing about!!!) Their nutritionist has them supplementing with Muscle Milk twice a day. So to lose you might want to find a different protein shake.

Have you ever tried Muscle Egg? It's an egg white product that tastes just like chocolate milk. I'm loving a 1/2 cup of that in the morning. No sugar and low carbs and lots of protein. It's really yummy. And a great way to get the benefits of eggs without having to eat them. Perfect for those that aren't egg lovers.

Here's the nutritional info:

Serving Size: 1 cup (237mL)
Calories: 130
Total Fat: 0g
Cholesterol: 0g
Sodium: 399mg
Total Carbohydrates: 5g
Protein: 25g

I'm 24 days out and love this little treat and eggs kind of hurt my sleeve. The only downside is it's pricey!!! Best of luck on your pre-diet!!!! Keep me updated!
