Hi, I may have already introduced myself, but I cant remember, so I will just do it again! My name is Michelle. I am a 42 yr old mom of 2 awesome boys. 23 & 11. My oldest and his wife just found out they are expecting, so I have new motivation to get this weight off!! I am 5'7, 410lbs. I have struggled with my weight for over 13 yrs. Gone back and forth about WLS, but now, I know this is the only way I will succeed. So, I started my 6 month supervised diet in Jan. My surgeon is Dr Michael King in Oxford MS. We are hoping for an August date. I have already completed my psych eval, my pulimnary and cardio evals.

I am blessed to have the support of my children, husband and mom. I am keeping it from my sisters, as I am afraid they will have unrealistic expectations, and I will get discouraged, which I Get easily. I also want to surprise them around the Holidays. :-).

Anyway, that is a little about me! I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Welcome.  We are all here to offer support.  Some of us are more passionate than others but I think everyone on this site cares.  Start practicing now eating your protein first, lowering your carbs and drinking lots and lots of water.  Also start moving if you are not.  Log all of your food on Myfitmesspal or some other program, it will help to keep you accountable.  Any of these things that you can try and do now will help you recover quicker and make the transition that you will go through afterwards easier.  You might even start seeing some successes before the surgery.  Also take your measurements because the scale will not always reflect your accomplishments.  You will not be able to eat the small quantities that we eat but you will be better prepared if you start training now!

Good Luck on your journey!

I am sure that you will find more than enough information on this site, so I'll just say congratulations on your decision to have WLS.  I wish you all the best as you continue your journey.

Hi Michelle,

I'm fairly new as well and looking for support. I enjoy reading the success stories here because it encourages me. LIke you, I've been struggling with my weight for about 15 years and have gone back and forth on whether I really want to do WLS surgery. I'm now certain I do. I just recently got a new GP who will help take care of me during post-op. Once she signs off on the surgery I will be calling the surgeon to make my appointment. Anyway, best of luck and take care!
