Declaring war on a small gain now before it can grow...

I'm back from an amazing week trip where I didn't make the best choices. I stay low carb so introducing them back into my diet always causes a gain but I came back with six extra pounds. Not a huge amount, but time to kick it back into gear, get those and the rest of this that's been hanging on OFF. I'm not updating my ticker with that gain because I don't unless it sticks around for 2 weeks or more. I'm at 170 this morning and if it doesn't say 164 or better in 2 weeks, I'll update it then.

I'm not all that worried. Time to get back to business. 40-50 carbs, 70+ protein, water until I float and 800 calories. I know the formula and I'm on my way already, yesterday was a decent day, even with the trip to melting pot for my daughter's birthday celebration (gosh, my baby is TEN!).

I figure 3-4 of these pounds are from salt/carbs, but the other 2-3 are real so time to declare war and take back control. You won't win, obesity. :p

You have done so good so far and I know you will take care of these couple nasty pounds.   Best of luck.

Thanks... maybe I can just scare them off by drinking enough water to float those little pesky things away :)

Keep us posted. I'm worried about this exact scenario myself when I get to maintenance.

Aside from the scale, did your body tell you what was going on? Clothes tighter, comfort, etc? Or do we have to watch the scale diligently to get the message?

My weight swings around wildly anyway and I knew by going off plan I would gain a few. It wasn't unexpected. I think the difference now is that I'm very aware of what I'm doing. I knew I'd come back with a gain and I knew I'd have work to do.

My clothes aren't tighter or anything, just the scale tells me. I weigh daily though so I'm always very aware of what's going on. (well, I couldn't while I was gone, but that's okay).

No reason to be scared of it. I think it's more important to be scared of not being aware of it. Knowing what you're doing and having a plan is where it's at. I could have stayed diligent while away that week, but I was due for a break, frankly so I took it and I know it will come back off.

Note: I look at things differently than some folks, I'm very aware of that. BUT it is a gain and it is time to get it off :)

Thanks, it's no big deal, it will float back off. I even ate crab legs last week so salt was my friend. LOL! But damn, they had dungeness crab, I couldn't say no to that! It will come back off, just gotta get to work, thanks for the vote of confidence :) xoxo

And thanks... I feel... weird. Like I'm supposed to be this way now. It's weird, more and more I look at my before and don't remember that as much as I remember my face now. If that makes sense. I actually got up last week and danced with a waiter at a restaurant. I would have NEVER done that even a few months ago. Hmmm...

Rambling :)

It has taken me about 6 months to start to internalize the way I look now.  I get shocked sometimes when I see a picture of me from before surgery.  I was cleaning out my office and found an old badge that I had from a previous client.  The photo on there was taken in the fall of 2009.  I could not believe how WIDE i was.

Of course a year of surgeries didn't help that process along - from losing my glasses after my cataract surgeries, to losing 7.5 lbs of skin from my LBL.  Next month I hope to do the mastopexy and brachioplasty.  I am soooo looking forward to losing the man boobs and bat wings.

This past weekend I was reminded of that when the clerk at a store almost wouldn't take my credit card because my ID was so out of date.  Then there was a barista at Starbucks flirting with ME?  Whats that all about!

We went through this to be able to live an enjoy our lives!  Its time to do that.  BTW, I find that I tend to float 5 lbs on either side of where I like to maintain.  Its taken me a while to not take the fluctuations too personally.  I used to feel like every time the scale fluctuated up it was meaning I was doing something wrong, and I was rocking every time it went down.

Serious about the avatar though!  I didn't recognize you!
