Thank you! My surgeon also mention a revision at a later date if I didn't lose enough.

Tina - when I decided to have the VSG surgery,  I weighed 435 lbs, now almost 20 months later I have lost a total of 225 lbs (24lbs prior to surgery) and have 25lbs more to loose to hit my goal weight!

You can loose the weight with the VSG.  Surgery is the easy part, it's life after surgery that is tough.  You have to be ready and willing to change your entire life style.  No more sodas, no more fast food and not more large meals and exercise..exercise..exercise, even if it's just walking every day.   The rate of weight loss is different for everyone.  I would loose 10-20 lbs in one to two weeks but then I wouldn't loose a pound for 2-3 weeks.  As long as I didn't gain weight I was fine. I feel the stalls gave my body time to catch up with the weight loss!  Also, reading all the post in the forum here helped as well.

I love my sleeve and to this day still feel it was the best thing I could have done for myself.

Whatever choice you make, bravo to you for taking that first step to healthier you!  This will be the best decision you will ever make!  Good luck!!!

I started out at 450lbs. and at 5 months out have lost 110lbs. I went in to my surgeons office with the mindset of gettig the RNY and he basically told me I was too high risk for it unless i got down to a 60 bmi (I was 84 then). He would however do the vsg and told me he could only give me the tool I had to do the rest if I wanted to get healthy. I went home and researched the vsg and decided I could do it if I wanted the weight off bad enough. I have not regretted it once since surgery. Get the surgery you want and feel in your heart will do the beat for you. Everyone is different and loses at different paces but if you work your tool the weight will come off with whatever surgery you decide. Good luck on your journey.
