~18 month check up with my surgeon, ramblings
The good thing about being aware that you're crazy is that you begin to realize at my age (50, tyvm) that if you're going to be crazy you might as well be CRAAAAZY, no? Unless, of course, my teenage daughter kills me immediately prior to dying of embarrassment at my antics, that is.
Read somewhere recently that if you make it to 50 without growing up you don't have to. I did, so I won't, so there.
I realized a while ago that I'm almost 200 lbs down from my highest recorded weight (I'd bet you large sums I'm over 200 lbs down from my highest actual weight as I was given to refusing to step on scales even at the doctor's). I was 319 when I first visited the Bariatric office, but I was weighed in at 335 at an Ortho docs office a while back.
But never mind. 180 lost is nothing be ashamed of, right?
Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22
175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012
Heh. I'm already mortifying my kids (9 year old girl and 12 year old boy) so I'm ahead of the curve. YES! I'm 37 :) But you're right. If you're gonna be nuts, may as well own it and go all the way. Besides, we joke that we don't have a college fund, just a therapy fund :)
Yeah, I think once I hit like 150 loss I realized that it didn't matter. I mean it DOES, but at some point it becomes just such a huge number that it's overwhelming no matter how you say it. You've done awesome. If I look half as good as you when I hit 40 (nevermind 50, Miss Hawt Thing), I'll consider myself success :)
